Political activism has been closely interlinked with modern art as a mirror to society's issues and a motivator for change. Artists, since the early 20th century, have used their creative skills as an impetus to bring about changes in society, changing political ideology, and exposing injustices.

Maybe one of the strongest illustrations of this connection is the Dada movement that arose from the mayhem after World War I.

Movements like Black Lives Matter have inspired the new generation of artists who are advocating against systemic racism, police brutality, and earning equal participation in social life.
